The Sumela Monastery, Zigana, and Hamsikoy Private Tour offers a flexible start time and the convenience of hotel pick-up, providing you with a comfortable and enjoyable tour experience in your private vehicle. Starting from Trabzon, you will be picked up from your hotel or a designated location of your choice. Our first stop is Altindere National Park, where the Sumela Monastery is located. After about an hour's pleasant drive, we arrive at the park. We proceed with the park’s shuttle vehicles to a designated point, then visit St. Barbara Chapel (Aya Varvara Church). You can take a short break to enjoy the stunning view of the monastery. Then, after a 350-meter hike, we reach the cliffside Sumela Monastery.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by historical aqueducts, stone steps, and spacious social areas. You can admire the impressive exterior of this medieval monastery and enjoy the breathtaking natural scenery. As you climb the stone stairs to the main entrance, your guide will take you through the monastery’s rock church, student rooms, library, guesthouse, and holy spring. Your guide will provide in-depth information on the historical, cultural, and religious significance of the monastery, adding depth to your visit.
After the monastery visit, we return to our vehicle and head toward the Zigana Pass, located 2,050 meters above sea level. This pass, situated on the historic Silk Road, was once traveled by famous explorers like Marco Polo. You can enjoy a local lunch at a restaurant along the way. If weather conditions allow, we will take you up to 2,350 meters on Mount Zigana, where you will witness the spectacular panoramic views of the Black Sea Mountains and Zigana Pass, seemingly floating above the clouds.
Our final stop is Hamsikoy, known for its natural beauty and famous rice pudding. With flowing streams and mist-covered mountain slopes, Hamsikoy is a natural wonder that will leave you enchanted. In this village, known for its historical houses, don’t miss the chance to taste the delicious Hamsikoy rice pudding made with fresh milk. You will enjoy the magnificent scenery and create unforgettable memories.
At the end of the day, our tour ends at the starting point. Alternatively, we can drop you off in Trabzon city center or at Trabzon Airport. We bid you farewell and look forward to seeing you on another tour.

Your guide will assist you with these arrangements.
