Get ready to explore the unique historical and natural beauty of the Black Sea region on this day trip starting from Trabzon city center! Our first stop is the famous Sumela Monastery, located in Altindere National Park. After a short shuttle ride through the park, we begin our walk to the monastery. First, we visit the St. Barbara Chapel (Aya Varvara Church), where we take a short break to enjoy the stunning view of Sumela Monastery. Then, we follow a 350-meter path leading to the monastery, which is beautifully built on the steep slopes of Mount Karadağ.
As you approach the monastery, you'll be greeted by medieval architectural details, historic aqueducts, and stone stairways. Accompanied by your guide, you will have the opportunity to explore various sections such as the rock church, chapels, and student rooms, unveiling the secrets of this mystical structure. You’ll feel as though you’ve traveled back in time as you wander through the monastery. Afterward, during the free time, you can continue exploring the monastery or relax in the cafe at the entrance while enjoying the magnificent view.
After the monastery visit, we continue our journey to Zigana Mountain. At 2050 meters high, the Zigana Pass is a significant stop on the historic Silk Road and is known for its breathtaking views. Here, you’ll experience both the serenity of nature and the depth of history as your guide shares the cultural and historical significance of the area, while you take in the stunning scenery.
Our final stop is Hamsikoy, known for its beautiful nature and famous rice pudding. Here, we take a delicious lunch break and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the village.
