Full description

On this day tour, you’ll begin your journey from Trabzon city center, exploring the historical and natural beauty of the Black Sea region. Our first stop is the famous Sumela Monastery, located in Altındere National Park. We take the park’s shuttle service to reach a certain point, then visit St. Barbara Chapel (Aya Varvara Church) before heading up to the monastery. From the chapel, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the monastery and take a short break. Afterward, a 350-meter forest trail leads us to the cliffside Sumela Monastery.

Once at the monastery, you’ll be greeted by ancient aqueducts, stone staircases, and medieval architecture. You’ll have the chance to explore various sections of the monastery, including the rock church, chapels, student rooms, and more. After discovering the rich details of this historic site, we head toward Zigana Mountain. The Zigana Pass, at 2,050 meters above sea level, was one of the most important passages along the historical Silk Road. Here, you’ll enjoy a journey through time with stunning natural landscapes.

Our final stop is Hamsiköy, one of the Black Sea’s most famous villages, known for its natural beauty and delicious rice pudding. We take a break for a delightful lunch in this charming village.
