Welcome to Şanlıurfa, “The City of Prophets.” Depending on your reservation preference, your guide will meet you either at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport or at your central hotel in Şanlıurfa.
Our tour will begin with a visit to Göbeklitepe, a site that has profoundly changed our understanding of human history. Dating back 12,000 years, this archaeological site has revolutionized our knowledge of early human civilization. Located in the Mesopotamia region, Göbeklitepe provides important insights into the religious beliefs of hunter-gatherer societies. Here, you will explore how people of that era created sacred spaces and expressed their religious beliefs.
After visiting Göbeklitepe, we will proceed to Harran. Known as one of the world’s oldest cities, Harran is identified in the Bible as the home of Prophet Abraham and has historically been an important Silk Road stop. Since the Mesopotamian period, Harran has been a significant center, recognized for its "beehive-shaped houses" designed to suit its hot climate. We will visit the 22-meter-high Harran Mound, the wooden-domed Camii el-Firdevs (Paradise Mosque) built by the Umayyad caliph Mervan, the first Islamic university in Anatolia (Harran University), the Inner Castle, Historical Walls, and the beehive-shaped houses.
After our visit to Harran, we will head to the center of Şanlıurfa. Here, you will visit Halil-ür Rahman Mosque and Ayn Zeliha (Balıklı Göl). According to legend, a great fire was lit in this lake, and when Prophet Abraham fell into the fire, the lake was formed, and trees turned into fish. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to explore Rızvaniye Mosque, the sacred Cave believed to be the birthplace of Prophet Ibrahim, Sipahi Bazaar, Kazzaz Bazaar, Hacı Kamil Inn, Hüseyiniye Bazaar, Naccar Bazaar, Historical Customs House, Ulucami, and the Kitchen Museum.
At the end of our tour, we will take you back to Şanlıurfa GAP Airport or your central hotel in Şanlıurfa.
